Alan Webster - R.I.P.

It is with extreme sadness that we learned that Alan Webster passed away on June 29, 2022. Alan was one of the founders of PIBC. He served as President for a few years and made huge contribution to the Club’s operations. Allan was a Life member of PIBC and of the Granville Park Club. He was well known throughout our bowling community. On the green he was a fierce competitor with a truly fearsome drive shot and off the green, a funny and warm person. He won gold at the 2006 World’s Men’s Singles championship. He also was successful at many National, Provincial and District championships. Alan loved the game. He had injured his right shoulder a few years back, but taught himself to bowl, rather competently, left-handed. He was an umpire for many years and brought his relaxed but competent style to the umpiring tasks. Alan was a meteorologist and would regale us with his ‘weatherman’ jokes. He always had a smile in his face and was gracious in helping out many of us beginner bowlers. There will be a celebration of Alan’s life at a later date, and we shall advise you at that time.
