Phase 2 Game Rules

  1. Players must always wear a mask while inside PIBC.

  2. Players should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their league start time.

  3. Players are encouraged to use their own bowls. With locker room access limited to one person at a time, we recommend that members bring their bowls with them and not store them in the locker room.

  4. Practice only on your rink. Adjacent rink practice is NOT allowed.

  5. Games can start anytime the players are ready.

  6. No handshakes, high fives or contact with other players. Maintain physical distancing at all times.

  7. No make-up games allowed. If a member of a pairs team cannot play, one spare is allowed to play instead. If a singles player cannot play, he/she must forfeit the game to the opponent.

  8. Three Bowl Pairs will play 16 ends, Aussie Pairs will play 14 ends and Singles will play sets of 7-7-3.

  9. During the course of every end, each team has only one chance to visit the head, no matter which position. While playing Aussie Pairs - Both players must walk to the head together.

  10. Time limit: - A bell will ring at 1 hour 50 minutes for all games. All play ceases and the shots are counted. Each team must throw the same number of bowls so an extra bowl may be delivered after the bell to even the number of bowls thrown.

  11. Spares: - If a spare is needed, the team must notify the league convener at least one day before the game, otherwise the spare cannot enter the Club. The convener must mark down the name of the spare on the game sheet on that specific day.

  12. Each team has to assign one player to place and remove the mat. The practical method is: Team A grabs the mat on the right side only; Team B on the left side only. (The top of the Henselite logo should face forward).

  13. To minimize contact, leads cannot throw the jacks. Two jacks are supplied for each rink. The jacks are to be kicked into place by the winning team instead.

  14. No burnt ends - jack is re-positioned on the 2-meter mark.

  15. When a measurement is required, players must use their own measures with no exceptions. While measuring, care should be taken not to touch the jack or bowls.

  16. Touchers can be marked with spray or hard chalk without touching the bowl. No liquid chalk shall be used.

  17. Do not use the score boards; skips should keep their own scorecards and confirm scores with their opponent.

  18. Do not shout to your teammates at the other end of the rink to avoid the risk of spreading droplets.

  19. There may be times that a team cannot find a spare at the last minute. Our Club officials or the game conveners are NOT responsible to find spares. Please contact your opposing skip directly to make arrangements.
