PIBC International Competition Grant
The PIBC International Competition Grant has been established to support members who compete at an event at PIBC and as a result are selected by a recognized provincial, national, or world bowls organization to participate in an international indoor bowls event.
Eligible members may apply for a grant of up to $500 to help offset expenses associated with their participation. The grant will be subject to available funding as allocated by the club.
This initiative aims to recognize and support members representing the sport at an international level while ensuring equitable access to financial assistance.
Application Process:
-
Members must submit a written request to the club executive, including documentation confirming their selection by a recognized bowls organization.
-
The application should also include a list of other financial support the individual has applied for.
-
Applications by members are open throughout the year. However, the deadline to be considered for funding is May 1st. The Board will review all applications at the May Board meeting.
-
Events can be funded retroactively, up to 8 months.
Funding & Administration:
-
Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.
-
The club will determine the annual allocation of funds for the grant as part of its budgeting process.
-
If funds are limited, the grant may be shared pro-rata or prioritized for first-time recipients.
-
If financial limitations preclude the offering of grants each year, members will be informed of that situation
-
The grant program will be reviewed annually to assess its sustainability and effectiveness.
Rationale: In past years, PIBC has provided financial support to players who have won the Canadian Indoor Singles Championship and have gone on to represent Canada at the World Cup. However, the practice has been inconsistent (not all players have been funded) and there has not been an application process. This policy institutes an open and transparent application process as well as sets out a decision-making framework.
